Moving to Spain is a big step as you know. Before I moved here
I didn't speak Spanish and had never been to Spain apart from
a couple of short holidays to the islands. I knew that Yecla was
a relatively un-touched traditional Spanish town with few English
speakers. Quite a worrying thought to say the least so I decided
to learn at least the basics of the language before I got here.
I was on the road a lot with my work so I bought a set of audio
lessons and went through them while on the road. I also typed
out all of the main verbs, which are vitally important, and stuck
them up in various places at home. Along with the reading I was
doing I managed to get my understanding of the basics of the
Spanish language far enough to get me by initially. I really
would recommend at least familiarising your self with the fundamentals
of the language. I never though I'd ever speak a foreign language
in my life.
